Susie Alvord graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. While she appreciates the many facets of architecture and the fundamental sense of balance it brings to her tile work, it was not a wide enough avenue to support the fun and artistic fire within her.

When her children were going through their teenage years, she needed an artistic and emotional outlet to bring center and beauty into her life. A friend introduced her to the process of glazing ceramic tiles. Susie was inspired by the layering effects of the glazes and the beauty of deep, rich penetrating colors.

Her love of water color was introduced to a whole new dimension. It was the beginning of a life's passion. "Glaze on Tile".

Susie currently lives at the base of the Boise foothills near the Boise River. She draws inspiration from a host of wild life which occasionally cruise through the neighborhood as well as from her mountain retreat in McCall, Idaho.

It's a quiet life.
